It's easy to lose track of who we truly are. Every day brings new challenges, responsibilities, and expectations that can drown out our inner voice. Amid this chaos, we must pause and reflect on our identities. This FIRST blog post aims to peel back the layers and reveal the essence of who I am by examining the values, passions, and experiences that shape my identity.

Defining My Core Values

I have been starting some "soul searching", if you will. I believe our identities rest upon a foundation of core values. These beliefs serve as guiding principles, directing our choices and actions. For me, loyalty, empathy, and perseverance are essential to my identity.

Loyalty means being supportive and genuine. Regardless of your identity or strength, the loyalty of a partner and friends can shape the course of life.

Empathy is essential for creating meaningful bonds within reason. I have successfully cultivated a strong tribe around myself and my family, and I take great pride in the individuals in my life.

Perseverance is vital for overcoming challenges. Life has given me some real curveballs over the years. Instead of giving up, I sought to find a bright spot and dedicated extra time to overcome.

Embracing My Passions

Our passions fuel our motivation and give us a sense of direction. Family and friends, travel, and now journaling are essential to my sense of purpose.

Family and friends are essential in my life. They fill my soul with love, positivity, and strength!

Travel expands my outlook. I enjoy visiting a completely new city... curious to know why?! I'll share it with you regardless. There's a unique feeling when you arrive in a city, feeling lost and unfamiliar with your surroundings; yet by the end of the trip, it feels like you're leaving a new "home".

Writing is becoming my creative outlet. It enables me to convey my thoughts and emotions. I'm not exceptional at it; you may notice mistakes and imperfections here, but I hope you can overlook them.

Reflecting on Life Experiences

Life experiences uniquely shape who we become. They teach us lessons and create lasting memories that influence our identities. I've stumbled on a variety of experiences that have significantly impacted my personal growth. From celebrations to failures and everything in between, but that's for other posts!

I appreciate both my failures and my successes. Failures have taught me resilience, and celebrating has played a crucial role in enhancing my confidence. I believe these experiences have molded me into who I am today.

Cultivating Self-Awareness

Self-awarenes is my "new" obsession. It is vital for understanding who I am. It involves recognizing strengths, weaknesses, and how I impact others. This introspective journey will lead to continuous growth. Which brings me to my "Relentlessly Unfinished" moto.

The Role of Change in My Identity

Change is inevitable and shapes our identities. Embracing change can lead to personal growth and new experiences. Each shift in life, whether large or small, contributes to the story of who I am.

Instead of resisting change, I strive to view it as an opportunity. Adopting an open mindset toward change fosters resilience and adaptability. Each transition teaches us valuable lessons, whether it’s learning a new skill or adapting to different environments.

The Journey of Self-Discovery

Embracing self-discovery is about peeling back layers to uncover our true selves. Through reflecting on core values, passions, life experiences, and cultivating self-awareness, we can better understand our identities.

Amid the chaos of everyday life, it’s crucial to remember the significance of returning to the basics. This process is ongoing. Each day presents a chance for growth and exploration.

Patience and openness to this journey lead to a more profound connection with ourselves and the world around us. As we reflect on who we are, may we all strive to discover the essence of our identities.

Now... I want to know about your layers!

Through this exploration, may we all discover the essence of who we truly are.
